Hi Mighty Lions, looking for something exciting to do? Monroe families, searching for something to have your child(ren) occupied? Here is the MIGHTY news!


Monroe Elementary School will be launching a bi-monthly newsletter. The submission guidelines are as follows:


  1. Content: The topics below are listed for your consideration. You are welcome to submit any topics that you are interested in:


    a. Artist
    Zone: Send a picture of your artwork with a title and the medium you use, such as crayons, chalk, etc.  

    b. Baker Spotlight: Share a recipe and the picture of you making it. 

    c. Book Club: Include an image of the book and write a few sentences to introduce the book and share why you are recommending it.

    d. Comics: Share any comic strips which light up your day.

    e. Flyer: Show your creative talents by creating a flyer to promote Monroe school events (regardless real or imaginary as long as it is appropriate!)

    f. Fun things to do at home: Got a creative idea to pass the time? Share it with Monroe friends.

    g. Interview a Grown-up: One page, including pictures.

    h. Interview a kid: One page, including pictures.

    i. Pet Showcase: Send a picture of your pet and a paragraph telling us all about it, including breed, age, cool facts, why it is special, etc.

    j. Movies: Any must-see movies you are compelled to recommend to your peers? Here is your chance to write a review!

    k. Neighborhood Scoop: Any specific news about Monrovia that you would like to report? Write a paragraph and send it in with a picture. 

    l. Seen Around Town: Take a picture of something cool in Monrovia and send it in with a picture. 

    m. Story Time: Write a fiction or nonfiction story to share with your Monroe Lions with or without accompanying drawing/image. 
     
    n. Other: Any topics you are interested in sharing with us. For example, poetry, fitness, walking, and biking path suggestions, thoughts and feelings, COVID related kid stuff, education, cool websites, podcasts, etc. 

    * Please credit your sources/websites when possible.  

  2. Submission Format: Please send submissions no longer than one page in Word format or via Google doc for written works.
  3. Deadline: Submit or share your work with Ms. Kum at [email protected] by Friday, May 1, 2020.
  4. Note:
    1. Please ONLY submit photo(s) that you have your parent’s permission to be published on various media such as Monroe school website, Facebook, and Classdojo. 
    2. All submissions will be modified and published at Monroe’s sole discretion.
