Monroe Volunteers
Investing in the future!
The staff of Monroe School values the time and energy given to our students by our many volunteers. The investment made now will pay dividends for years to come in the academic success and emotional support of our students.
Those who wish to volunteer in any capacity; in the classroom, accompany classes on field trips, or volunteer at school-wide events must apply through our district's TIER I Volunteer Application process and complete the accompanying steps by providing a current TB test or TB Risk Assessment and valid driver's license. The link to the applications and the descriptions for each level is provided below along with a link to MUSD's Volunteer Hub. Volunteers cannot start until the application is fully completed and approved.
Please remember that if you are planning to accompany your child on a field trip or volunteer in the classroom, we must have a completed volunteer application on file for you! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office manager, Mrs. Briones at 626-471-2381.
Application Process
All volunteer school site and department volunteers will complete the application on the subsequent pages. All pages must be complete and the appropriate documentation attached (TB test results and copy of a government issued photo ID). A volunteer application must be completed each year for each site or department you will be working with.
If the nature of the volunteer activity is deemed to be Level II, then a background check will be required. This is done through fingerprinting and clearance is determined through reports of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The volunteers who are cleared by the background check are kept in a confidential database with Human Resources Personnel. Volunteers need only be fingerprinted once for the duration of volunteer service in our district. All volunteers are monitored by the site or department administrator
Volunteers who will be on campus and have in person contact with staff or students must submit a clearance of Tuberculosis (TB) in order to volunteer in a school district. Volunteers must complete the TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire or turn in TB test results which include a skin test, blood test or a chest x-ray results. The prospective volunteer must submit a copy of this clearance with this from or via email. The results are valid for 4 years after which the process must be done again except for volunteers at Canyon Early Learning Center who must update clearance annually.
By law (California Penal Code 290.95), volunteers must disclose if they are a registered sex offender and/or listed on the Department of Justice’s Megan's Law website. Any volunteer applicant whose name appears on the Megan's Law database is prohibited from serving as a volunteer in any capacity for any length of time, including for one-time activities.
By law, (California law AB506) volunteers must complete the California Mandated Reporter training, as well as Bloodborne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment and a number of safety trainings. Once you submit your application you will receive a link to the required trainings or you can complete the required trainings here:
