For Native American Heritage Month, Monroe students played 'Pebble Patterns' and 'Keeper of the Fire'. The games were used to celebrate the Tongva People, who lived in Monrovia many years ago. Native American children would play these games to improve their memory, stealth and survival skills. As a dual-emersion school, Monroe Principal Amanda Noriega said this is one way to immerse students into other cultures.
